Abstract

Society has introduced the use of technologies to optimize processes, solve problems, improve quality of life, communicate and use leisure time. However, there are also ethical dilemmas in the use of technologies and a digital divide persists that maintains inequalities and highlights challenges. Technology and its impact on society has been addressed from different approaches and disciplines. It has revolutionized the way of living and acting and Ecuador has not been on the sidelines. In this sense, the objective of this research is to determine the impact of the use of technology in the current Ecuadorian society from the sectors that compose it in order to analyze this phenomenon in an integral way. The theoretical position of Nuñez Jover is assumed, he approaches the relationship between science, technology and society from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective. The Mixed research paradigm was used, allowing the use of quantitative and qualitative methods to obtain a holistic understanding of the object of study. Observation, interview, survey, document analysis and triangulation were used as validation methods. A sample of 100 people with stratified sampling was used. The results show that technologies have had a significant impact on sectors of society and interpersonal relationships, and have become essential in the lives of many people in the country.
