The general objective of this research was to evaluate the students' perception of the implementation of Project Based Learning (PBL) with a STEAM approach in all subjects during the first semester. The problem addressed was the effectiveness of PBL in the development of key competencies. A quantitative methodology was used through surveys, applied to a sample of 199 students randomly selected from a population of 411. The instrument used showed a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.912, indicating high reliability. The main result revealed that 58.3% of the students perceived improvements in their ability to solve complex problems, although 21.6% did not observe such improvement. The main conclusion is that, although PBL is effective in general, its success depends on adequate implementation that considers time management, project structure, and adaptation to the needs of the educational context.
