Abstract

This research examines the relationship between loneliness, life satisfaction, and hope in professional adults. Loneliness is understood as the subjective perception of isolation, both social and emotional. Life satisfaction, on the other hand, assesses the degree of overall satisfaction a person feels regarding their life in various areas such as relationships, work, and personal development. Finally, hope refers to positive expectations about the future, the sense that one can achieve what they desire. This study used a non-experimental, descriptive-correlational, and cross-sectional design, with 114 men who were members of a Freemason group. They completed three instruments: the UCLA Loneliness Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and the Herth Hope Index. The results indicate that loneliness is negatively related to life satisfaction and hope, suggesting that greater loneliness decreases positive expectations about the future. Additionally, it was observed that participants with higher educational levels had higher scores in life satisfaction and hope. These findings highlight the relevance of educational level as a protective factor against loneliness and a predictor of greater emotional well-being.
