The school for parents as support in the comprehensive performance of the students of the educational unit 8 de January

Abstract

This contribution is associated with the linkage project “Tareas dirigidas y apoyo psicopedagógico para fortalecer el aprendizaje de los alumnos en la Educación Básica Pública de Jipijapa. Fase II” that is implemented from the Carrera Educación de la Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí. In the diagnostic stage of the project, the variabilities of student performance could be detected and produced figures that made it possible to interpret the growing needs of educational institutions. According to this diagnosis, this proposal was made that determined that family support is necessary to provide support to students in the field of family-school relationship and that the School for Parents is a feasible mechanism for this support.  This research was cross-sectional in nature, with a mixed approach, applying analysis-synthesis, bibliographic and statistical methods. A structured survey was carried out that shed light on the need to implement the School for Parents, which would allow active and committed involvement of family members to provide support to students and thus improve their academic performance.
