Follow-up of graduates of the information technology career of the south manabí state university

Abstract

The Graduate Monitoring Area organizes to evaluate the professional profile and training needs of graduates of the Computer Systems and Information Technology Careers of the South Manabí State University. During the years 2018-2019-2020-2021, as an important entity for the creation of professionals in new and innovative technologies, they maintain the monitoring and follow-up of this process, with the purpose of creating a database of updated information on graduates in our career, so that they, as direct witnesses of the academic curriculum received, are the actors and innovators of the changes and improvements of the career. A descriptive and retrospective observational study was carried out as part of the follow-up of graduates of the Computer Systems and Information Technology Careers. The universe was represented by the 186 graduates of the Computer Systems career and 38 of the Information Technology career from January 2018 to March 2022, with a sample of 224 graduates. In the second academic period (PII) 2021 of the study there were a total of 224 graduates. According to the situational analysis carried out on the graduates of the years 2018-2019-2020-2021, the results are 58 professionals are working and 128 professionals are unemployed out of a total of 186 Computer Systems engineers, this is equivalent to 31.18% with employment and 68.82 % are looking for jobs and referring to the Information Technology career, 8 of them worked, 6 of them the work is related to the career studied and 2 of them are not related to what has been studied and 30 professionals are unemployed because they have recently graduated. Of the 224 graduates surveyed, 53 professionals equivalent to (28.5%) and 70 professionals equivalent to (37.6%) qualify as very satisfactory and 40 professionals equivalent to (21.5%) dissatisfied and 23 professionals equivalent to (12.4%) as very dissatisfied. This opinion is important because it shows that the professional training provided them with the necessary tools for professional practice; the knowledge and skills acquired were satisfactory; however, it is necessary to continue improving in the academic process and considering that there are professionals does not answer the question, an aspect that must be taken into account in the career improvement program.
