Abstract

The article critically analyzes social communication strategies applied in legal education, with emphasis on criminal law, through the use of radio and digital media as tools for dissemination and civic training. The research is developed within the framework of the institutional project “Legal Education through Radio Stations and the Internet” of the Law Program at the Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí, whose objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of these media in transmitting legal knowledge to different social sectors. A mixed methodological approach was employed, combining interviews with law professors and university media coordinators, surveys of 250 radio listeners and digital platform users, and a documentary analysis of academic literature and legal regulations published between 2015 and 2025. The findings show that access to legal education through radio is almost nonexistent, reflecting the absence of sustained programming in this field. In contrast, digital media have become the main channel of legal education, with 74% of respondents reporting consumption of legal content through social networks, podcasts, and websites. These platforms stand out for their asynchronous availability, diversity of formats, and capacity for interaction, especially among younger audiences. At the social level, digital programs contribute to the understanding of basic rights (72%), the prevention of common crimes (64%), and trust in the justice system (43%). In conclusion, the integration of social communication, legal education, and criminal law constitutes an effective strategy to democratize knowledge and strengthen the culture of legality.
