This study assessed vegetation cover loss in the rural parishes of Santa Marianita and San Lorenzo, located in the Manta canton of Ecuador, using a multi-temporal approach based on geospatial tools. Landsat satellite images from 2000, 2010, 2020, and 2025 were processed using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) to identify and quantify changes in vegetation cover over time. The results showed a progressive decrease in areas with dense vegetation and an increase in areas with sparse or no vegetation cover, particularly in sectors near the coastal strip and areas with greater human intervention. Differences in the rate of change were also identified between the parishes analyzed, with a greater intensity of vegetation cover loss recorded in Santa Marianita compared to San Lorenzo. The creation of thematic maps allowed for the visualization of the spatial distribution of these transformations, providing relevant information for land-use planning and environmental management. In conclusion, multi-temporal analysis using remote sensing tools is an effective tool for monitoring vegetation cover and identifying critical areas of environmental degradation.
