Abstract

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is one of the most frequent causes of secondary arterial hypertension.
There is a new classification of chronic kidney disease based on the presence of structural damage with or
without impaired glomerular filtration rate. This research aims to analyze the functionalism profile and renal
damage in hypertensive adults. Materials and methods: The methodology was descriptive with documentary
design, through a systematic review: This review was based on sources with scientific databases: PubMed,
Scielo, Elsevier, Google Scholar, Dialnet, search strategies were used using combination of keywords: renal
profile, renal markers, renal damage in hypertensive adults, renal profile in hypertensive. Results: In
Ecuador, in the study carried out in 2020, it was possible to determine that the female sex had a higher
prevalence for renal markers such as uric acid, creatinine and urea, whose patients had an age range of 51
to 70 years, which is consistent with the study carried out in in 2021 in Spain where the female sex also
predominated and the age of the patients was greater than 60 years. Discussion: studies carried out in
America, Europe and Asia found similar studies carried out where the female gender was the most prevalent
and where it was possible to show that the ages of 50 to 70 years were the most predominant in hypertensive
patients.
Keywords: Kidney disease, high blood pressure, kidney function.
