History and guideline of the serological profile anti SARS – CoV – 2 in Ecuador

In 2019, an outbreak of pneumonia caused by SARS - CoV-2 occurred in Wuhan, which led to the declaration of a global pandemic in March 2020. Due to this, different tests were developed that allowed us to know if people were infected, within these tests are rapid tests that are characterized by detecting antibodies generated by the patient's immune response to viral infections, beginning with the production of immunoglobulin M (IgM) considered as the adaptive response, detectable from day 5–7 after the onset of the infection. The present bibliographic study seeks to report on the serological tests carried out in Ecuador to determine the anti-SARS-CoV-2 serological profile in the country. From the information collected, the guidelines presented by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Public Health were found, as well as a study on the evaluation of rapid tests carried out in Quito in 2021. From the research carried out, it is concluded and it is recommended to combine the clinical diagnostic tests: molecular and serological, to achieve adequate sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of COVID - 19.
