Special educational needs: case of dyslexia in basic education student

Abstract

Dyslexia is a learning disability that causes significant reading difficulties, a complex syndrome of related neuropsychological deficits that may include deficiencies in orientation, timing, written language, spelling, memory, auditory perception, visual perception, and sensory abilities related. Hence, the main objective of this article is to describe the experience in the diagnosis of a case of dyslexia in a basic education student. The research is descriptive, for its development the analytical - synthetic, inductive - deductive methods and the use of the interview as a research technique in the diagnostic process were used. Based on the theory addressed and the current regulations in Ecuador, the case of a student from eighth grade of Basic Education is described. In this process, the role of the District Inclusion Support Unit (UDAI) and the Department of Student Counseling (DECE) stand out, as support and management instances in the processes of improving learning conditions in particular cases. As a result of the investigation, it is concluded that a timely diagnosis and joint work allows curricular adaptations aimed at developing learning in a significant way in cases of Dilexia.
