Arterial (GA) gasometry is a test used in medicine to evaluate the oxygenation, ventilation and acid-base balance of an individual. The analysis results allow to assess the response of therapeutic, pharmacological, or non -pharmacological interventions. The objective of this research is to review the scientific literature of the elements reported on GA. To perform arterial gasometry, it is necessary to use arterial -type blood, so the collection of the sample must be carried out with the appropriate protocols, since there may be a series of factors that can alter the quality of the sample at the time of its collection. The literature review identified that some of these factors may be related to the materials to be used or with an inadequate technique for blood extraction. For this reason it is considered that most errors are told in the pre-analytical phase, therefore, it is the responsibility of the laboratory to guarantee the results of the patient.
