Contextualization of the teaching-learning process of the English language in the Civil Engineering career

Abstract

In this paper, a contextualization of the teaching-learning process of the English language for specific purposes in the Civil Engineering career is presented. Said contextualization is based on an epistemological and praxiological perspective that recognizes the holistic, complex, interdisciplinary and integrating nature of the language contents, as well as the other disciplines within the degree. The fundamental purpose is to improve the training of the civil engineer, managing to establish a connection between the teaching-learning process of English and the professional profile through a transversal approach that covers the different subjects of the career. Consequently, the distinctive peculiarity of the process of obtaining information and communication in the field of civil engineering would be highlighted, playing a crucial dynamic role. To address this study, a systematic review methodology was used in high-impact databases, allowing a comprehensive analysis of English language teaching in various areas of study. As a result of this research, didactic strategies were proposed in order to strengthen the teaching-learning process in technical fields such as Civil Engineering.
