Abstract

The houses financed through MIDUVI, as is the case of the T8 house, are designed for a family of only five members at most, that is, mother, father and three children; However, what happens as time goes by is that older children often have a partner and want to start a new home; which is a very recurrent situation in Latin American culture. With this background, it is essential to provide an alternative so that the T8-type house can have efficient vertical growth, through a second floor, which can be converted into a second home to accommodate the members of the extended family. Therefore, the primary objective of this document is “Determine the feasibility of progressive vertical growth in social housing - MIDUVI type T8 with traditional materials for the improvement of spatial conditions and habitability of users and the reduction of the environmental impact produced by conventional construction in the Portoviejo canton”: for which the methodology used was of a mixed type, through a user survey and review of bibliographical bases. In the same way, an analysis of the essential materials for the proposed construction process was carried out, as well as the plans and their general details. From all this study it was obtained as a conclusion that the vast majority of respondents who determine outstanding benefits in construction with traditional materials such as cane and wood, such as comfort, sustainability and economy, which makes it a major socioeconomic constructive option. feasibility than conventional construction based on reinforced concrete.
