Parenting styles and resilience in indigenous adolescents

The family plays a fundamental role in the development of personal and social skills considered as a precedent for processes and responses to emerging situations, in this context, parenting practice presents models of education that can be applied within the home; on the other hand, resilience is defined as that capacity that moderates negative affect in difficult situations, promoting adaptation. The main objective of the study was to determine the relationship between parenting styles and resilience in indigenous adolescents between 12 and 17 years of age, for which a sample of 113 students was used. The research had a quantitative approach, using the "Steinberg Parenting Styles Scale" adapted by Merino 2004 and the "Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale" adapted by Novella 2002. In addition, it had a non-experimental descriptive correlational cross-sectional design. The results obtained determined the existence of a slight positive correlation between the dimensions commitment and equanimity, commitment and perseverance, commitment and the total resilience score.
