Abstract

This research examines the perceptions and experiences of university students in using ChatGPT to strengthen their English language skills. The study aimed to analyze students’ assessments and experiences when using this tool as a support in language learning. A qualitative approach with a survey design was applied, using a digital questionnaire with both open- and closed-ended questions, completed by 104 university students. The majority highlighted the flexibility and accessibility of ChatGPT as a supportive resource in the process of mastering language competencies. A generally positive perception was identified, with students recognizing benefits in grammar, autonomy, and communicative confidence. However, the teacher’s role remains essential and irreplaceable in the educational process.
