Server administration is a task that becomes increasingly complex over time, as organizations grow their hardware and software components also grow. In this sense, free software tools for server administration and monitoring contribute to achieving the goals of technological sovereignty defined in Ecuador. The knowledge and experience of managers are condensed in operating histories and have been reflected in technical reports and scientific publications. Based on these elements, the purpose of this document is to carry out a review of the scientific literature on the administration of servers with free software as a strategy of technological sovereignty. The review allowed to identify server management software and monitoring tools used by administrators; server virtualization systems with free software; Tools for managing virtualization systems; as well as the public policies that have been adopted to contribute technological sovereignty.
